Fingerprints was started some four years ago (1974) by Robert Henry, Steve Fjelstad, Mark Throne and Tom Held. The Band played together briefly and then Held was replaced first by Jim Reeves and then by Jim Hines on Drums

In December 1975. Kevin Glynn became drummer replacing Hines. A short while later, Henry, too, left the band to join Hines in a jazz-rock entourage called “Inside Straight

Mark eventually wandered away from Fingerprints leaving Steve and Kevin to carry on. They were joined by old friend Mike Owens, whom they had played with even before the first Fingerprints’ configuration.

During the last part of 1975, Mike, Steve and Kevin formed the Blackberry Way studio - - which eventually merged with Paul Stark’s studio, P. David, just outside Dinkytown in Minneapolis… So now we have the present “Blackberry Way” where Twin/Tone records.

In the fall of 1977, Mark came together again with Mike, Steve and Kevin and the foursome asked Henry in October for the use of the band name Fingerprints. Henry agreed and two weeks later, he, too, came back in the group to make the current lineup.

Within Fingerprints, Glen concentrates on drums; Fjelstad on bass; Henry plays lead and rhythm Guitar plus vocals; Owens on lead and rhythm Guitar and Throne on vocals and sax. Fjelstad also play violin, Henry a variety of instruments including harp, Throne can play piano as can Owens, who like Henry, tinkers with a variety of instruments.

Jeff Waryan replaced Robert Henry in 1979 and the band recorded, but never finished, a first album before breaking up. Mike Owens, who now runs Blackberyway Records is currently working on digging up the recordings and finally releasing the album.
